Your sailing holiday starts on Monday. You fly to Corfu. Your transport is waiting. You and your luggage will be transferred to Gouvia Marina. Gouvia Marina is your homeport. It is a modern port, with a restaurant, a bar, terraces, a supermarket, showers, a swimming pool and a currency exchange office. The ISA ships are on jetty K. The leader of the flotilla will welcome you. You will be shown your boat and you will get some practical information. You will have plenty of time to buy your provisions and meet your fellow sailors. And more than likely you will meet each other again in the evening in one of the cosy little restaurants in the nearby village of Kontokali. |

The climate on and around the Ionian Sea is mild and subtropical. Starting early in the year until well into autumn the temperature of the sea is comfortably warm. During the whole of the sailing season – from April to October – temperatures between 25 to 30 degrees are normal. Only at the beginning and the end of the season will you need a jumper in the evening. In spring and autumn there is a chance of an occasional shower. Wet, but short. During the day there is usually a gentle northwesterly breeze. This is how it is “today”. |
